Vision Teaching are currently working with a very organised, well established and forward thinking PMLD school (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties). This OFSTED Outstanding school are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join them from September 2021 for the duration of the academic year with a view to gain a permanent contract directly with the school.
The school is based in the Hammersmith borough of London so transport links are excellent. You will be working with a group of 5-8 pupils, aged between 7-9 years old. All the pupils have PMLD and a willingness to engage in personal care support is essential to this role. This is a full time role Monday to Friday with working hours of 9am- 3.30pm.
What is required in the role: Working closely with parents and reporting back on pupils progress Preparing the classroom ready for the school day Working with children on a 1:1 basis as well as in small groups Providing personal care Observing children's behaviour
Essential requirements: DBS on the update system or willing to apply Available full time Previous PMLD or high SEND needs experience Positive attitude towards learning
Children with PMLD will have more than one disability, this could mean they may have trouble with the following: communication, hearing and visual impairments, physical disabilities, and mental health difficulties. Many individuals with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties rely on different ways to communicate this though PECS and/or Makaton so experience in these is preferable but not essential as you will be trained whilst on the job.
The school is OFSTED rated outstanding and resides in the Hammersmith & Fulham borough. It is a day school for pupils aged 2-19 years and have served the community for a number of years.
