SENCO for Alternative Provision

Greenwich | Full-time | September 2021 | Suitable for NQTs

Vision Teaching are currently supporting an independent expanding specialist alternative provision located in the Greenwich borough. They are looking to add an experienced SENCO to oversee this amazing independent alternative provision. This SENCO role is temp to perm, full time 5 days a week and will start in September. Ideally they would like someone who can start 2 days a week during this academic year but this is flexible.

You will be overseeing both sites one established site and another brand new independent alternative provision, all in the same area. This specialist alternative provision has up to 40 young people, aged 11-16 and the pupils have a variety of social, emotional, and behavioural needs which could not be catered for in mainstream education.

The needs of the young people at this setting can vary from autism to ADHD but due to the specialism of the school all who attend are regarded as School Action or School Action Plus This role is suitable for both an experienced SENCO and an experienced deputy SENCO that wants to step up into a SENCO role.

You will be required to continue the aim of the school which is to fill the gap by working with young people who have been excluded or were on the verge of being excluded from mainstream school, and equip them with a toolkit of skills to overcome issues which are typical to young people growing up in these times. They focus on building young people from within and concentrate on modifying behaviour to enable optimum learning potentials.

Ideal Candidate: SENCO Qualified DBS on the update service or willing to apply Happy to start 2 days a week with this being increased to 5 Experience in an alternative provision Experience with SEMH and challenging behaviour
